Alek Rapoport (Aleksander Vladimirovich) was born on November 24 in Kharkov (Ukraine).

Graduated from Leningrad’s V. Serov School of Art and Leningrad’s Institute for Theater, Music and Cinema under the supervision of the famous stage designer N. P. Akimov.

Worked in Leningrad as a stage designer for the Theater and Lenfilm; as a professor at the V. Serov Art School.

Joined non-conformist TEV art movement; co-founder of Alef (Union of Leningrad’s Jewish Artists

Emigrated from Russia

Settled in San Francisco. Worked as a draftsman and designer of stage equipment while developing a new body of work around new themes.

Dedicated himself completely to his creative work and participated in solo and group exhibitions across the U.S. and Russia.

Spent final years in voluntary seclusion, concentrating on his own creative world.
